The 2015 C2C Team |
After the pain of the previous 48 hours, it seemed impossible and illogical to attempt cycling 138 miles (plus detours) in just one day (hence the nervous laughter). Though as the days and weeks went by the idea festered and in as I made excuses for the reason I found it so difficult the first time round, with which I could fill a book with, it became less daunting and more achievable as a goal. And so, as we put together plans to carry on raising money for the CF Trust, it was obvious to me that the year was going to fit around attempting the Coast to Coast in a day.
As the day looms closer, I was curious to see how our ride stacked up against what the professionals do and the event coincides with the opening stage of the Tour de France and I can confirm that we will be in for a longer, harder day than Chris Froome. Now that may be because this years tour starts with a 14km time trial but I'll take that. Though even when you look at the rest of the stages, only a flat stage 19 matches the 222km/138 miles that we'll be doing.
Judgement day is the 1st July. We'll be setting off at around 5:30am to give us a nice long day ahead of us to complete it and hopefully avoid finishing in the dark.
We'll try to keep you all updated with our progress throughout the day and you can be sure there will be plenty to tell you all after the event. In the meantime, if you can do, please donate!! It makes it much less painful!!
All the best,
Sean
